Aside from his obvious wit the man smokes, drinks like a fish, and claims that anal sex, like picnics, is "over-rated". What's not to like?

Well the bit about Mother Theresa being a con artist, and a thief who gloried in suffering might be a start. Ditto his career-long habit of calling people fascists and making other cheap shots at people he disagrees with.
Hitchens is the sort of man who says very charming and interesting things, just before he shoves an icepick into your ear.

Mother Terry really wasn't all she was cracked-up to be, as a matter of fact. He does tend to obsess about bringing down sacred cows, but he generally succeeds in getting the goods on them, as he did with Kissinger.
That being said, he's still a lefty and has some unsavory views, such as support for slavery reparations.
